BrowserClaw Privacy Policy

This privacy notice is to let you know how BrowserClaw collects and processes your personal information.

BrowserClaw is a browser your AI agents drive using your logged-in accounts. It runs on your machine. Your browsing, your logins, and your session recordings never leave your computer.

The only thing we send off your machine is anonymous product usage, and you can turn that off from Settings inside the app. This notice explains what we send, why, and how to opt out.

What this notice covers

This notice covers BrowserClaw, the desktop browser your AI agents drive on your behalf. It covers both the browser itself and the local server that ships inside it.

Your browsing stays with you

BrowserClaw is a browser. Your history, cookies, logged-in sessions, downloads, and any recordings of what your agents do live in your local browser profile on your own machine, the same way any browser handles this data. We do not upload any of it. There is no cloud sync, no server-side account, no shared history.

If you delete BrowserClaw or wipe your profile, that data is gone. We cannot recover it because we never had a copy.

Anonymous product usage

To understand how BrowserClaw is used and where to invest engineering time, we record a small number of anonymous product events. Each event carries an anonymous install ID that we generate for your copy of BrowserClaw. It is not linked to your name, email, account, or any personal information.

What we record:

• When BrowserClaw starts up and shuts down.
• When an AI agent connects, which agent it is (from a fixed list of the AI tools BrowserClaw supports), and when the session ends.
• The version of BrowserClaw and your operating system.

That is all.

What we never record

We never record or transmit any of the following:

• URLs, page titles, or page content you or your agents visit
• Prompts you or your agents send to AI providers
• Arguments, results, or return values of tool calls
• Screenshots or session recordings
• File paths, filenames, or file contents from your machine
• Passwords, API keys, or authentication tokens
• Email addresses or account identifiers

Every event that leaves your machine is checked against a fixed list of allowed properties before being sent, so a bug in a future version cannot accidentally start leaking the categories above.

How to turn it off

BrowserClaw includes a toggle in the app's Settings for product usage. Switch it off and no more events are sent. Your existing anonymous install ID stays on your machine and is never used again unless you turn the toggle back on.

Product usage is on by default. If you turn it off, your choice is remembered across future updates.

Where product events go

When product usage is on, anonymous events are sent to PostHog, a product analytics service. As with any request to a website, PostHog observes the IP address that the request came from; we do not attach any IP address to events ourselves. Received events are subject to PostHog's own privacy policy.

Third-party AI providers

Your AI agents drive BrowserClaw. When an agent decides to navigate, click, or read a page, it may send information about that decision to its own AI provider (for example Anthropic for Claude, or OpenAI for ChatGPT-based agents). What that provider does with the data is governed by its own privacy policy, not this one. BrowserClaw does not intermediate or observe your agent's conversation with its provider.

Data retention

Your local browser data (history, cookies, sessions, recordings) is retained on your machine until you delete it. Anonymous product events that PostHog receives are retained on their side according to the retention window we have configured. Because those events are not tied to you personally, we do not have a way to identify and delete individual events after the fact. If you'd like us to stop collecting new events for your copy of BrowserClaw, use the Settings toggle.

Your rights

Under data protection regulation, you have:

• The right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data
• The right to access the personal data we hold about you via a Subject Access Request
• The right to correct inaccurate personal data
• The right to have your personal data deleted
• The right to request restriction or suppression of your personal data
• The right to object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances

BrowserClaw is designed to hold no personal data about you, so most of these rights are already satisfied by default. The Settings toggle covers your right to object.

Making a complaint

You have the right to complain to us and to the data protection regulator. If you are a California resident, you may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency. For users in other states, you may contact your state's Attorney General's office. You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) if you feel your privacy rights have been violated.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational or legal reasons. If a future change broadens what we collect from your machine, we will call it out in the release notes for that version. Updated versions of this policy will be posted on this page.
